These paintings were completed when Rachael lived and worked in Australia are among some of her first large-format abstract paintings; they were inspired by the expansive coastal and desert landscapes and the vivid, enveloping colour. The loss of scale and the liberating feeling of insignificance that experienced when walking in the pink light of the desert, still influence her work today.
